Biography:

Massapequa resident and New York City Police Officer Christine Ade, a first responder at the site of the terrorist attacks at the World Trade Center September 11, 2001, died Feb. 1, 2011 of an illness related to her work there. She was 44.

She was forced to retire from the department after being diagnosed with glass in her lungs and suffering from complications of that condition a year ago. She had worked at the 110th Precinct in Jamaica, Queens.

Born and raised in Valley Stream, she enjoyed her job, working on her home and she loved animals. She had two homes, one on North Hawthorne Street in North Massapequa and the other in St. Mark’s Place, Massapequa.

“After she retired, she spent a lot of time with her nephews and our mom,” said her brother Kevin of Massapequa.
