About:

The centerpiece of the memorial is a steel and concrete anchor point from Tower 1 (North Tower) of the World Trade Center (WTC). The 7,000 pound piece is unique because it represents more than the events of September 11, 2001. The steel beams from the parking garage of Tower 1, sustained damage in a terrorist attack on February 26, 1993, in which, six people died and more than 1,000 others were injured. Mending plates, which are welded and bolted to the steel, show the repairs from that attack.
