The memorial consists of two 30-foot stainless steel towers mounted on a Pentagon base.Engraved granite will carry the names of victims who died in the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks in New York City, Pennsylvania and Virginia, including at least 15 people who had ties to Wisconsin. A 34-inch piece of Ground Zero debris will be located in front of the memorial base. The piece comes from a 2-ton section of I-beam that WTC 9/11 Pen-T Memorials got from New York. The organization hopes to place 51 of the memorials across the country. The memorial will force Green Bay to move its 22 foot tall “Receiver” statue which had been nearby. The kitschy statue was moved to the front of the art museum in 2003 from Lombardi Avenue after the Packer Hall of Fame moved to Lambeau Field.
