It is a city cemetery, the site of Lincoln's tomb and Illinois Veterans' memorials, and the quercetum. This project is building an oak arboretum propogated from rare, historic, and champion specimens worldwide by the founding president of the International Oak Society. Reason site was selected: It is protected in perpetuity, 350 acres fenced and mapped, and has a high visitation rate. Events planned for site: Study tours.
