About:

The Forestry Club wanted to honor the tragic events of 9-11-01 in the form of a living memorial. These trees were dedicated in memory of lives lost and there is nothing quite like it on campus. The planting is special because it was initiated by a student group and the plants selected were chosen to offer a bloom all year long. The diversity of the plants represents that lives were lost all over the world. Reason site was selected:The memorial location is highly visible on campus. Students and faculty pass by it each day walking to and from class. This is the first forestry school in Pennsylvania. An arboretum was started on campus in 1903 with plantings that included memorial trees up until 1930. Our memorial planting may inspire new care for these trees. Events planned for site. The Forestry Club intends to hold a ceremony on the anniversary of 9-11 each year. Over time, the Club intends to add to the site with additional plantings and care. Do you believe your memorial is a sacred place? Yes, this planting represents lives lost and the value of living things. This memorial has great meaning in our campus community.
