About:

Our intention was to honor the lives lost on 9-11-01 and to never forget this sacrifice. As Puerto Ricans we have a strong connection with the United States and there are so many of our family members living in cities in the Northeast. It is impossible to describe the feelings of sadness, frustration and loss. Even today this is something we do not forget. As a result, it was very important for us to have a native tree of great beauty to honor the lives lost. The Ceiba tree was selected and donated to this project by a local landscaper who, like many of us, just wanted to help. The museum is one of the most beautiful locations in San Juan. It is a public place. The Ceiba Tree is a rare native to our country and this special tree was planted in a location that is highly visible and is part of a tropical landscape that includes a winding trail that connects forests and lakes. September 11 is a sacred date. Our planting is way to connect with this tragedy and we hope the beauty of this tree will bring peace to those that visit this site.
