Biography:

A former Staten Island resident and retired NYPD detective, Carmen Figueroa's greatest love was her family. She was a graduate of Port Richmond High School, and continued her studies at Sullivan County Community College and the College of Staten Island, where she received a master's degree in Education and Administration. In 1983, she joined the NYPD and was promoted to the rank of detective in 1991. She retired after 20 years of service in 2003.
