David F. Ferrugio was on the 105th floor of Tower 1 when the first plane hit the World Trade Center on Sept. 11.
The former Staten Island resident was a bonds broker at Cantor Fitzgerald, where he had worked for six years. But on that day, like so many others, Mr. Ferrugio never came home.
Born in Brooklyn, Mr. Ferrugio moved to Great Kills after getting married in the early 1980s. He lived in Great Kills for 14 years before moving to Middletown, N.J., six years ago with his wife and children.
Before being hired by Cantor Fitzgerald Mr. Ferrugio worked as a bonds broker for another firm. He coached a Little League team in Lincroft, N.J., from 1998 to 1999.
"He loved sports, he loved people and he loved life," said his wife of 23 years, the former Rosanna Romano. "He was an honest, down-to-earth guy. He had a heart of gold."
In addition to his wife, Mr. Ferrugio, 46, is survived by a son, David John; two daughters, Jacqueline and Gina Marie; a sister, Andrea Wanner, and his mother, Antoinette Ferrugio.
I remember a plea on tv to
I remember a plea on tv to "pray for David Ferrugio". I did. I wore a button for weeks that said " pray for David Ferrugio." I never met him but HE was where I centered my prayers... and prayers for your family. I have over the years never forgotten his name... and prayed for his family many many times. I just wanted to stop by here and pay my respects to a husband father and love done that I never met.

I remember seeing his children on tv that evening, amidst a sea of other loved ones begging for information for those who at that time were missing. I made it a point to remember a name and each year I remember. I hope his family is doing well and know their loved one has been remembered by name by people they've never met we've always hoped the best for them.
