Biography:

Freddy The Bug loved, and was loved by, his family and friends through all stages of his all too short lifetime. Although much of his energy was spent trying to get a rise out of those same people, those closest to Freddy were privileged to know the heart of a true friend. Fred was hard working and dedicated, successful in all he set out to accomplish through school and his career, yet his greatest successes and things he valued most were the relationships he forged with friends and family. Fred grew up in New City, NY and spent his summers at Camp Baco. After graduating from Cornell University, Fred moved to New York City and surrounded himself with family and friends from Clarkstown North High School, Camp Baco and Cornell University. He took a job as an assistant equities trader at Cantor Fitzgerald, attended business school at nights and earned an M.B.A. from New York University, and was a successful equities trader and partner at Cantor. In 1997 Fred married Mindy. Alexis Gabler, Fred and Mindy's only child, was born on November 9, 2001. Fred was incredibly close with his parents, grandparents and his sister. He was caring and devoted to his wife, and was looking forward to the start of their family together. Fred's family and friends have done all we can to keep his memory alive. Leslie Gabler coordinated a beautiful book of stories and photos dedicated to Fred's memory, a scholarship fund has been established in his name at Clarkstown North, an endowment fund has been put in place at Cornell in his honor, and we all continue to contribute to the Fred Gabler Helping Hand Fund. While the tragic loss will always remain painful, the memories of Fred bring smiles to our faces and we believe he would be very proud of the work we are doing in his honor.
