Biography:

James D. 56, of Greenwich, CT, a Managing Director of Marsh, USA, located in the World Trade Center, died Tuesday September 11, in the terrorist attack on the Towers. Born January 10, 1945, he was the son of Evelyn (Jones) Halvorson and the late Arthur L. Halvorson. Jim spent his childhood in Devils Lake, North Dakota, where he attended Devils Lake High School. He attended North Dakota State University and later graduated from the University of Montana in 1967. In 1968 Jim taught English in the Amityville, NY, school system. In 1971 he joined Marsh & McLennan where he worked for 30 years and held several positions.

At the time of his death he headed Marsh's Global Infrastructure Group, specializing in the arrangement of risk transfer and credit enhancemant products for project financed construction. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 31 years, Maureen Wilson Halvorson of Greenwich, a son Douglas James Halvorson of Manhattan, two sisters, Jean Halvorson of Denver, CO, and Kathryn (Kate) Halvorson of South Burlington, VT. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM, on September 21, at the Christ Church, 254 E. Putnam Avenue Greenwich, CT. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in Jim's honor to either the Greenwich Chapter of the American Red Cross, 231 E. Putnam Avenue Greenwich, CT 06830; or the NYC Firefighter's Family Fund.
