To: Nick, Connie, Mary Jane, and Billy.

I share your sorrow. I cried as I watched the calling of the names. I waited to see Jimmy, who I always loved and remembered as a boy. I used to drive him to school with Charles and Chris. As I pass your house I visualize Jimmy cleaning his car or Nicks. I say, Hi Jimmy where ever you are and say a prayer. When Jimmy's name and picture came up I was so consumed with grief. I had to shut off the TV. I will never FORGET HIM. He still lives in the Heart of his family and friends. Unforgettable...

My heart swells knowing there's a beautiful reunion of father and son going on right now in heaven with father and son. God Bless Mr. Nick Maounis as he is now with his beloved son Jimmy and God Bless the Maounis Family. May you find peace knowing they have each other along with Our Father Who Art in Heaven. What a handsome group that is! To MaryJane, Mrs. Maounis, Billy and family we love and care about you. Debbie, Craig and Morgan.

Biography:

How many guys would blow off drinking with their pals in order to drive their sister to the beauty parlor? ("You got a brother?" asked Anthony Giammona. "Would he do that for you?")

Mr. Giammona's friend James Maounis would. "He'd take his sister out to dinner," he said, adding that the Maounis clan — two brothers, one sister, the parents — were "more like friends than a family unit."

In the same vein, Mr. Maounis, Mr. Giammona and their friend Ralph Baione were a lot like family. As teenagers growing up in Gravesend, Brooklyn, in the 1970's, they went to discothèques together; as adults, they biked, traveled, got haircuts and met women together. They even shared a nickname: Way.

"You're out and you're amongst others, if you give out a 'Waaaaay,' it alerts the people in our group," Mr. Giammona said.

Mr. Maounis, 42, was an account administrator at Fiduciary Trust on the 90th floor of 2 World Trade Center; his sister Mary Jane worked in the same building on the 62nd floor. She survived.
