Susan Getzendanner was my second boss at my first job. I reported to Susan in 1981 at Fiduciary Trust. I was an Operations Analyst at the age of 22.

Susan was a warm friendly and understanding mentor. It was confusing at first working for someone who seemed to be more suited to working in an ashram then a old-money trust company. But Susan straddled both worlds comfortably.

My fondest memory of Susan has to do with an organization called Life Spring. It was an off-shoot of EST and I became very involved in the program. Having been a graduate of EST Susan was very supportive of my participation.

After finishing the first level I was struggling to find the money to pay for the next part of the program. When hearing of my dilemma she quickly wrote me a check and told me to pay her whenever I was able.

I was not accustomed to such generosity and will be forever grateful for her support. Her spirit lives on in my memories.

Today on 9/10/11, I met Susan for the first time as I signed the "I Will" Tribute Page and asked the web site to assign a person for me to honor as I made my tribute. I think the computer did a fine job! Tomorrow when I am at church I will pray for Susan and her family along with all of the others... I think I like Susan already, and I like saying her name as much as I like saying mine...Getzendanner...it makes me smile.
