I was a nugget navigator when I flew with Jack in Brunswick, Me. A good man-- dedicated to his country and even more so to his family.

The Tribute in the NYT was nice and accurate but it completely neglected to mention that 5 days a week my mother lived in Brooklyn supporting my daughter, Charlotte, and me. Valerie was part of the vibrant community of Park Slope, Brooklyn and made every day a special day.

One of my favorite memories is the three of us in a queen sized bed watching the snow fall outside our window. My mother were I acting out all the voices of our own abridged version of Hamlet for Charlotte who giggled and interrupted with questions and exclamations far beyond what one expects from a 5 year old. My mother spoke to her even then as a little adult.
