During this horrific terror attack when the names of the victims flashed across the screen I caught the Carlo name. Although I didn't know Michael I recognized my family name. My heartfelt sympathy goes out to his family. He was so young and had so much to live for. I am from Pittsfield MA and my Dads name was Michael J. Carlo. I have two brothers and two sisters. We are a proud family brought up with good values. I was watching the 7 PM News this evening where President Obama placed a wreath at Ground Zero. Also featured in this new clip were the parents who also lost a son. These parents started Voices of September 11th which propelled me to their website and gave me a chance to send my sympathies at long last.

Yesterday I was honored to walk in the 1st Annual September 11 Disneyland Memorial Walk. I live near Disneyland in California and some amazing people put together a walk to honor 343 fallen heroes of the 9/11 attack. I was honored to be given the name of Michael Scott Carlo and walk in his name. I researched my hero and this made the event more personal. Living in this area I spend a lot of time in Long Beach, CA. I noticed that Michael was from Long Beach, NY. I said a few prayers for his father, Bob, and brother, Rob during the day. I had read the story of Michael's great friendship with his brother who was also a firefighter. I lost a brother in 1981 and that feeling never goes away. I can't imagine losing a brother in such a terrible way as the 9/11 attacks. I would hope that Michael's family knows that people all around the world felt the loss in such a deep way as to honor these heroes year after year. The shirts we wore said 15 years Never Forgotten. I did not know Michael but am honored to have been assigned his name for this event. This was just a group of Disney loving people who felt called to gather and honor the memory of those lost. The local paper came out to take photos and can be seen online at www.ocregister.com. I was told that there were about 400 people on this walk and the event was not over until all of the heroes represented had crossed the finish line at the event. The organizers had raised funds that will go to a fund previously created for families of this disaster. I am greatly honored to have been a representative of this hero's memory. Michael Scott Carlo is not forgotten!!!
