Jon is still so painfully
Jon is still so painfully missed. I guess when you are that nice of a person your legacy is such...you will always be so very missed

We will never forget you
On this 20th anniversary of 9-11, I still remember you and your kind heart as a member of our RHS family. Still shedding tears after all these years for the all the lives lost. I visit your memorial every time I visit NYC. Will never forget you. Hope your family is finding some peace in their loss.

Jon C Vandevander
My name is Susan and I was 51 years old on September 11, 2001. I lived on the Upper East Side of New York and would take the subway down to 14th Street at Union Square for work. This note is for his family.
I had several odd more unexplained intuitions at that time. One morning a few days later when I was walking up the stairs at that subway at Union Square that there were names on the wall which surprised me and then as I reached the landing and turned to the right I could see more names going all the way down that hallway to the exit. I was shocked. So many died. A day or so later when leaving I began to stop and read the names and people put messages by the names like Baby I miss you and things like that. So I scanned the names and saw one name Jon C Vandevander. No messages no notes by his name. I decided each evening I would stand by his name and say prayers for him. I imagined he was at the WTC for business, maybe from the Netherlands. Was on a high floor. So I prayed for him.
It was a year later when I happened to turn on the morning show on Sunday on CBS. I never watched CBS. And there was this story about these guys from New Jersey and one in particular...Jon C Vandevander. I was beyond shocked! & And I was so thrilled to see this man's family and how he lived and what a good man he was. How did I happen to see that? It will always make me wonder if there is more to human existence like a more spiritual part of it. And that was a way of saying thank you to me, something good and humbling like that.
I have learned in the meantime that I am part Dutch and my family settled in New Jersey in the 1600s, from genealogy. But enough about me. I will always wish you and you family the very best. I was watching 911 coverage two nights and I could see the name Charles Vandevander on the memorial and it made me think of Jon. And then I thought I should write.
