Oh, what a wonderful night at the New York Athletic Club! Thank you to all who joined us at VOICES 2025 Always Remember Gala and congratulations to our remarkable honorees.
The night kicked off with our longtime friend, ESPN’s Jeremy Schaap, who did a masterful job at the helm as our Master of Ceremonies.
VOICES 2025 Leadership Award was presented to Rebecca Weiner, Deputy Commissioner of the NYPD’s Intelligence and Counterterrorism Bureau, in recognition of her dedication and commitment to keeping our communities safe.
VOICES 2025 Legacy Award was presented to Joe, James, John, and Kathy Vigiano who have continued the legacy of several generations by serving in the NYPD, FDNY, and United States Military.
A special thank you to VOICES Board Chair, Bonnie McNamara, CNN's John Miller, and 9/11 family members Jeanmarie Hargrave and Tom Kerns for their thoughtful remarks.
Broadway star Laird Mackintosh, best known as The Phantom in The Phantom of the Opera, graced the stage with an unforgettable musical performance! The evening concluded with our enthusiastic auctioneer, Erin Ward who electrified the room and inspired us all!

2025 Emcee
Jeremy Schaap, a 15-time Emmy Award winner, is one of ESPN’s most respected and longest-tenured journalists, having been with the network since 1994. He currently hosts E:60, Outside the Lines, and The Sports Reporters.
Over the course of his career, Schaap has reported from more than 30 countries and covered nearly every major sporting event, including the Olympics, FIFA World Cup, Super Bowl, World Series, NBA playoffs, U.S. Open, Tour de France, and even chess boxing. He has conducted some of sports journalism’s most memorable interviews, including with Bobby Fischer, Bob Knight, Darryl Strawberry, Plaxico Burress, and Manti Te’o.
2025 Leadership Honoree
Deputy Commissioner Rebecca Ulam Weiner leads the NYPD’s Intelligence & Counterterrorism Bureau, overseeing efforts to combat terrorism, cyber threats, criminal intelligence, and major event security. She shapes policy, guides investigations, and represents the NYPD in national and international security matters.
Since joining the department in 2006, she has advanced intelligence and threat analysis programs recognized worldwide. She was the first local law enforcement official appointed to the National Intelligence Council and has held leadership roles including Assistant Commissioner for Intelligence Analysis, Legal Counsel to the Intelligence Bureau, and Team Leader for operations in the Middle East and North Africa.
A graduate of Harvard College and Harvard Law School, Deputy Commissioner Weiner is also an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs, President of the Leadership in Counterterrorism Alumni Association, and a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.
2025 Legacy Honorees
Joseph John Vigiano graduated from SUNY Maritime College in 2015 and enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve, and was deployed to Afghanistan. He joined the NYPD in 2017, later completing Emergency Service Unit training and becoming a Rescue Specialist with FEMA’s Urban Search & Rescue Task Force. Promoted to Detective in 2025, Joseph serves with ESU Squad 7 in Brooklyn. He and his wife Jenny have a son, Joseph Vincent II, named in honor of his late father, a 9/11 hero.
James Vincent Vigiano earned a degree in Homeland & Corporate Security from St. John’s University in 2016 and served as a U.S. Marine, deploying aboard the USS New York and to Africa with SPMAGTF. He joined the NYPD in 2021 and is assigned to the Brooklyn North Community Response Team. James married his college sweetheart, Jessica, in 2020.
John Michael Vigiano, the youngest brother, was three months old when his father was killed on September 11th. A graduate of St. Anthony’s High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in 2023 and now serves as a Corporal with the 3rd Littoral Combat Team. John is a graduate of Advanced Infantry Training in Hawaii and recently completed a deployment to the Philippines.
Kathleen Vigiano is the widow of Detective Joseph Vigiano. She is a retired NYPD officer, proud mom, and volunteer EMT. As President of Survivors of the Shield, she supports families of fallen officers and honors the legacy of her sons, Joseph, James, and John, as well as that of her late husband.
Musical Performance
The evening was highlighted by a remarkable performance from Broadway star Laird Mackintosh. Best known as the final Phantom in Broadway’s The Phantom of the Opera, his remarkable career includes leading roles in Mary Poppins, Jekyll & Hyde, and My Fair Lady. With his commanding stage presence and soaring voice, Laird brings the magic of Broadway wherever he performs.
From earning the 2023 Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal for his contributions to the arts to performing over 4,000 times in The Phantom of the Opera, Laird’s artistry has captivated audiences around the world. His performance was a true highlight of the evening—an unforgettable celebration of music, passion, and theatrical brilliance.
