Laird Mackintosh
Broadway Actor & Singer
Laird Mackintosh recently made international news when he played the title role in the final Broadway performance of The Phantom of the Opera, the longest running show in Broadway history. Mr. Mackintosh had previously played the Phantom more than 200 times in the New York production. He has enjoyed a long association with the show, having played principal roles in two companies (Toronto and Broadway) for over ten years and 4000 performances.
A native of Canada, he was awarded the 2023 Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee Medal for outstanding service to the Province of Alberta in the field of arts and entertainment.
Most recently, he played the starring role of Henry Higgins in the 1st National Tour of the Lincoln Center Theatre production of “My Fair Lady”, which opened at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC. and also played in Chicago and Los Angeles.
He made his Broadway debut as Mr. Banks in the Disney hit “Mary Poppins”, and followed it with the leading role of John Utterson in the Broadway revival of “Jekyll & Hyde”. Off-Broadway, he played James Wilson in “1776” at City Center Encores.
In Canada, Mr. Mackintosh spent eight seasons as a leading actor at the Stratford Shakespeare Festival where favorite roles included Billy Buck Chandler in “My One and Only”, Boo Radley in “To Kill a Mockingbird”, Leonelo in “Fuente Ovejuna”, Lieutenant Cable in “South Pacific”, Cornelius Hackl in “Hello, Dolly!”, Rapunzel’s Prince in “Into the Woods”, Lord Evelyn Oakleigh in “Anything Goes” and Freddy Eynsford-Hill in “My Fair Lady”. Internationally, he has done ten productions with Toronto’s Baroque theatre company Opera Atelier with performances in Japan and Singapore.
He began his career as a dancer in the National Ballet of Canada.
Mr. Mackintosh lives with his wife, Broadway performer Polly Baird, and their dog & cat in Rhinebeck, New York.

Jeremy Schaap
E:60, Outside the Lines, and The Sports Reporters Host
Jeremy Schaap, a 15-time Emmy Award winner, is one of ESPN’s most respected and longest-tenured journalists, having been with the network since 1994. He currently hosts E:60, Outside the Lines, and The Sports Reporters.
Over the course of his career, Schaap has reported from more than 30 countries and covered nearly every major sporting event, including the Olympics, FIFA World Cup, Super Bowl, World Series, NBA playoffs, U.S. Open, Tour de France, and even chess boxing. He has conducted some of sports journalism’s most memorable interviews, including with Bobby Fischer, Bob Knight, Darryl Strawberry, Plaxico Burress, and Manti Te’o.
Schaap is widely recognized for his reporting at the intersection of sports and society, particularly on issues of human rights and social justice. In 2015, he became the first ESPN journalist to win the prestigious Robert F. Kennedy Award for exposing the plight of migrant laborers in Qatar preparing for the World Cup. He has also received two Edward R. Murrow Awards, a Peabody Award and two National Headliner Awards. In addition, he co-directed the acclaimed 30 for 30 documentary 42 to 1, authored two bestselling books—Cinderella Man and Triumph—and continues to bring depth and humanity to the stories he tells. Schaap was the reporter for the ESPN E:60 documentary Second Wind: The Boomer and Gunnar Esiason Story, which documented Esiason's battle with cystic fibrosis and the groundbreaking advancements in treatment that have extended his life. VOICES honored Esiason at last year’s Building Bridges Luncheon and Schaap served as the moderator during their conversation.
Beyond his professional achievements, Schaap has long supported charitable organizations, including the ALS Association, the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America, and Prevent Child Abuse New Jersey. Born in New York City and a graduate of Cornell University, he lives in Connecticut with his wife, Joclyn, and their three children.

James Vincent Vigiano
Police Officer; Brooklyn North Community Response Team NYPD
James Vincent Vigiano is the middle brother. He graduated from Saint Anthony’s High School in 2012. In 2016 James revived a degree in Homeland & Corporate Security from Saint John’s University. He also Joined the United States Marine Corps in 2017. He served with 2 Battalion 6th Marines Weapons Company as a Corporal in CAAT Platoon.
While serving in 2/6 he was deployed twice, on the 26th MEU aboard the USS New York and SPMAGTF Crisis Response Africa. After retiring from his second deployment James married his college girlfriend Jessica in October of 2020. James then Joined the NYPD in 2021 and was also assigned to the 75th Precinct upon graduation from the Police Academy. He currently serves as a Police Officer as a member of the Brooklyn North Community Response Team.

John Michael Vigiano
Corporal, 3d Littoral Combat Team; US Marine Corps
John Michael Vigiano is the youngest of the Vigiano brothers. Being born in 2001, he was only 3 months old when his father was killed in the September 11th Terrorist Attacks. John also graduated from Saint Anthony’s High School in 2019. John served briefly as a volunteer firefighter before putting it on hold to serve in the military.
In 2023 he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps as 0311 Rifleman. He is currently serving as a Corporal with the 3rd Littoral Combat Team, Chaos Company. John completed a recent deployment to the Philippines and is a graduate of Advanced Infantry Training Battalion, Detachment Hawaii.

Joseph John Vigiano
Detective, Emergency Service Squad 7 NYPD
Joseph John Vigiano graduated from Saint Anthony's High School in 2011. In 2015, he graduated from SUNY Maritime College where he earned a Bachelors of Science degree in Marine Transportation with a Third Mates License Unlimited Tonnage. Upon Graduation, Joseph enlisted in the United States Marine Corps Reserve in the fall of 2015 as a 0352 Anti Tank Missileman. He served as a Sergeant in CAAT (Combined Anti Armor Team) Platoon with 2/25 Weapons Company.
While serving with the Weapons Company, he deployed to Afghanistan as part of the Georgian Liaison Team, Rotation 8 under Resolute Support Mission. Joseph joined the NYPD in July of 2017 and was assigned to the 75th Precinct. While assigned to the 75th Precinct, he performed duties as a member of the midnight Public Safety Team, the predecessor to Anti-Crime. Joseph graduated from the Emergency Service Unit's Specialized Training in School in 2023. He is currently assigned to Emergency Service Unit Squad 7 in Brooklyn. Joseph is also designated as a Rescue Specialist, with FEMA’s New York Task Force 1, Urban Search and Rescue Task Force. He was Promoted to Detective 3rd Grade in July of 2025 alongside his fellow members of ESU. Joseph married his college girlfriend Jenny in 2021. In 2022, they had their son Joseph Vincent Vigiano II named after Joseph's father, 9-11 hero Detective Joseph Vincent Vigiano Emergency Service Squad 2.

Kathleen Vigiano
Retired Police Officer; President, Survivors of the Shield
Kathleen Vigiano is the widow of Detective Joseph Vigiano. She is a retired NYPD officer, proud mom, and volunteer EMT. As President of Survivors of the Shield, she supports families of fallen officers and honors the legacy of her late husband and sons, Joseph, James and John.

Rebecca Ulam Weiner
Deputy Commissioner Intelligence & Counterterrorism, NYPD
Deputy Commissioner Rebecca Ulam Weiner oversees the New York City Police Department’s Intelligence & Counterterrorism Bureau, managing investigative, analytical, operational, and engagement efforts across the domains of counterterrorism, counterintelligence, criminal intelligence, infrastructure and event protection, cyber threat intelligence, and geopolitical risk.
She develops and implements policy and strategic priorities for the Intelligence & Counterterrorism Bureau and publicly represents the NYPD in matters involving counterterrorism and intelligence.
Prior to assuming command of the Intelligence & Counterterrorism Bureau, Deputy Commissioner Weiner oversaw the NYPD’s counterterrorism operations and analysis section, developing an internationally recognized intelligence and threat analysis program. She also served as the first representative of local law enforcement on the Office of the Director of National Intelligence’s National Intelligence Council, where she focused on transnational crime and terrorism. Deputy Commissioner Weiner previously served as Assistant Commissioner for Intelligence Analysis, Legal Counsel to the Intelligence Bureau’s Intelligence Analysis Unit, and Team Leader for the Middle East & North Africa, overseeing intelligence collection and analysis related to threats associated with those regions.
Prior to joining the NYPD in 2006, Deputy Commissioner Weiner was an International Security Fellow at the Harvard University John F. Kennedy School of Government’s Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs; a biotechnology consultant at the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development; and a Science & Technology Research Associate at the Council on Foreign Relations.
Deputy Commissioner Weiner graduated magna cum laude from Harvard College in 1999 with a Bachelor of Arts in History & Literature, and cum laude from Harvard Law School in 2005 with a Juris Doctorate. She is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Columbia’s School for International and Public Affairs, a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, President of the Leadership in Counterterrorism Alumni Association, and she was admitted to the Bar of the State of New York in 2006.
