Amy joined VOICES team to help facilitate VOICES support groups and mental health initiatives leading up to the 25th Anniversary. Amy is a licensed professional counselor with more than 30 years of clinical and academic expertise specializing in trauma, mass violence response, and disaster behavioral health. As a survivor of the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing, she brings a deeply personal perspective to her work at the intersection of trauma response, training development, and victim needs and rights.
She has deployed across the United States, providing trauma-informed training and technical assistance, and has offered direct peer support to survivor communities affected by tragedies, including Las Vegas, Parkland, Columbine, and 9/11.
Internationally, Dr. O'Neill has testified before the United Nations and contributed to the UN Model Legislative Provisions for the Rights of Victims of Terrorism, and she currently consults for several national organizations focused on mass violence response and victim services.
