Jeffrey Zahn, MD
Jeffrey Zahn, MD, is an Obstetric Anesthesiologist and Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology, Perioperative and Pain Medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine Mount Sinai in New York City. In 2014, he published Choose Happiness! A Guide to Practical Perspectivism and Happy Daily Living, describing Practical Perspectivism, an applied philosophy declaring we each have the capacity to choose, and are responsible for, our own emotional state. He began teaching Practical Perspectivism and Wellness in Medicine in 2016 in conjunction with the Accreditation Council of Graduate Medical Education’s new curriculum requirements for well-being training of resident physicians. This led to work with the Wellness Champion program in both the Departments of Anesthesiology and Obstetrics & Gynecology at Mount Sinai for faculty and trainees alike.
Most recently, Jeffrey has been pursuing studies in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction, has become a Mindfulness Educator and Meditation Facilitator, and has initiated novel research on “Mindfulness Rounds”, a program to bring Mindfulness education and practices to healthcare workers to reduce staff stress and improve patient outcomes. As he winds down his clinical career, Dr. Zahn is excited to continue teaching Wellness both within Medicine and to the community at large.
Krishna Dholakia, MS, RDN, CDE, CDN, RYT
Registered Dietitian, Diabetes Educator, 500+ hr Certified Yoga & Prenatal Yoga Teacher
Krishna has worked in the health and wellness field for over 12 years and uses a holistic model to help her clients feel more connected to their nutrition and lifestyle. Krishna has had experience working in the clinical outpatient setting, and is currently working for a non-profit managing their health education program where she contributes health content to e-learning courses and speaks at large-scale wellness conferences. Her private practice offers an integrated approach that includes nutrition therapy, counseling, mindfulness, and yoga.
Ultimately, Krishna’s goal is to help people approach their self-care and health in a loving compassionate way. She is also working on a podcast!
Mickie Brown RN, HN-BC
Clinical Manager for Education, Mindfulness and Patient Well-Being
Mickie Brown is a Clinical Manager at the Selikoff Centers for Occupational Health and the World Trade Center (WTC) Health Program at the Mount Sinai Health System in New York City. Mickie’s commitment to caring and her drive to alleviate distress of her WTC patients, motivated her to explore and learn Mind Body therapies. In 2007, Mickie became certified in Mind Body Medicine. She continued her training in Mindfulness at University of MA and Brown University, and is a teacher of the evidence-based program “Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction.”
Mickie is a graduate of the Edmonton General Hospital School of Nursing in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, a Registered Nurse in NY state and a Board Certified Holistic Nurse by the American Holistic Nurse Association. Having experienced the power of mindfulness in her own life, Mickie is passionate about sharing it with others. Currently, Mickie teaches Mindfulness programs for employees and faculty of the Mount Sinai Health System.
