Helping Those Who Are Truly Disabled

The news recently reported that over 100 New York City first responders are expected to be arrested for millions of dollars in disability fraud for faking illnesses related to the 2001 terrorist attacks is disheartening to say the least. As was reported in Medical Daily, this is “especially heartbreaking for those first responders and their families who really did suffer losses and long-term illness as a result of the attacks.”

First responders are at increased risk for kidney damage and cancers as a result of their exposure to toxins during the recovery effort.  Many others have experienced mental health illnesses, including post traumatic stress disorder.

To address these health care needs, Congress passed the Zadroga Law.  Eligible responders can obtain the health care they need through the World Trade Center Health Program.  If you or someone you know worked at the sites of the attacks on 9/11, we encourage you to call us at 855-709-0100 to learn how to apply.
