  • VOICES Interns are Going to Camp!
Last week, VOICES summer interns had an office surprise… we’re going to camp! With three New Canaan Rams, a Bucknell Bison and Loyola Greyhound in tow, the interns will head up to Vermont for a weekend of leadership camp with the Jerusalem Peacebuilders. At Acer Farm, we will have the opportunity to meet Israeli, Palestinian, and American students of the Jewish, Muslim, and Christian faiths and to discuss our experiences with the Israeli-Palestinian conflict through our own unique perspectives.
  • NBC 4 New York and NY Giants Health & Fitness Expo
This family friendly event features health and wellness tests and screening, fitness activities, healthy cooking demos and a meet and greet with Giants players and NBC Talent. VOICES will host a table to inform participants about the World Trade Center Health Program. The four-time Super Bowl champion New York Giants and broadcast partner NBC 4 New York are teaming up to host the second annual FREE family-friendly NBC 4 and New York Giants Health & Fitness Expo, presented by Quest Diagnostics.
  • Recent Supreme Court Decisions
In June, the Supreme Court refused to grant appeals to two separate cases involving the September 11th community. Because of our focus here at VOICES, we were interested in providing more in-depth coverage of the Supreme Court decisions. Having taken some law classes at Loyola and hoping to attend law school in the near future, I volunteered to research these cases more thoroughly. I have included a summary of the cases below.
  • Save a Firefighter
Jimmy Martinez is 24-year veteran of the FDNY. Martinez was a 9/11 and Hurricane Sandy first responder. As a direct result of his prolonged exposure at Ground Zero, Martinez developed multiple myeloma nearly a year ago. Firefighters risk their lives every day to save others. Now, we are giving you an opportunity to save the life of a hero. Sign up for the bone marrow donor registry at our Annual Information Forum on September 10th at the Downtown Marriott Hotel.

  • My Experience at the Health Fairs
“The greatest glory in living lies not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall.” - Nelson Mandela. If Voices of September 11th has taught me a lesson during my internship, it is epitomized by this quote.
