President Obama’s announcement on Afghanistan and the decision to hold the 9/11 trials in New York mean the services that VOICES provides will be even more critical in 2010. Due to the requests of our membership we are hosting additional teleconference support groups on Monday, December 7th at 12noon; Wednesday, December 9th at 10am and Thursday, December 17th at 7pm.

We received an overwhelming response from our membership interested in participating in VOICES teleconference groups designed to discuss your opinions and concerns regarding the upcoming terrorist trials. Your input has been extremely valuable in providing an understanding of how VOICES can be responsive to your immediate needs which may evolve as the trial approaches.  Your response has been very heartwarming and we have spent much of this week reviewing your suggestions.

We have received numerous emails and calls since the Justice Department announced that the trials of those accused of the September 11th terrorist attacks will be held in New York City. The families we have talked with have shared a range of opinions and concerns.

Over the weekend we were notified of the very disturbing news that there was a break-in and fire in the Chapel at Memorial Park, the temporary resting place of the unidentified remains of thousands of World Trade Center victims.  According to authorities, a 26 year-old law school graduate turned himself into police on Saturday evening.

It is with great sadness that I am writing to inform you about the sudden death of Clifton Maloney, husband of our good friend, Congresswoman Carolyn Malone. As many of you know, Carolyn Maloney has been a strong advocate demonstrating unwavering support to address the numerous issues affecting the 9/11 community over the past 8 years.
