VOICES was honored to attend the Bipartisan Policy Center's Patriot Award Ceremony in Washington, DC on September 11, which recognizes leaders who demonstrate political courage and exceptional leadership throughout their careers. This year’s honorees were 9/11 Co-Chairmen - former Governor of New Jersey Thomas Kean and former Member of the United States House of Representatives Lee Hamilton, who were honored for their inspirational courage, especially at a time when our country was faced with unimaginable tragedy.
Each year, VOICES high school interns produce a short film based on their research and interviews conducted on topics related to 9/11. Notably, this years’ interns were too young to have any memory of the attacks on September 11 but in their lifetime have witnessed other terrible acts of mass violence. The students interviewed a wide range of individuals and chronicled the stories of survivors and responders, highlighting their personal resilience and the relevance of 9/11 today. On September 11, VOICES participated in Cantor Fitzgerald Charity Day. This year, we were thrilled to have our friend from ESPN Mike Greenberg join us for the day as VOICES ambassador! Mike enjoyed meeting the traders and helping them in closing several trades. Charity Day started in commemoration of the 658 Cantor Fitzgerald and 64 Eurobrokers employees lost in the 9/11 World Trade Center attacks. Cantor donates 100% of their revenues on 9/11 to the Cantor Fitzgerald Relief Fund, and to hundreds of charities around the world.
Join us on Monday, September 10 for VOICES 17th Annual Information Forum, a day-long program with insightful presentations, panel discussions and peer-to-peer opportunities designed to promote healing and resilience. The event provides an opportunity for 9/11 families, survivors, responders and those who continue to support them to gather for an informative program in advance of the anniversary. Family members of those who have died of 9/11-related illnesses are encouraged to attend.
As we gather to commemorate the 17th Anniversary - in New York City, at the Pentagon, in Shanksville, PA and in local communities, we remember the 2,977 precious lives lost on that tragic day. September 11 is also a day to remember all those who have been affected since
