We've planned a program that provides information for everyone- 9/11 families, responders, survivors and service providers.

For many years, George Martin, No. 75 of the New York Giants has been a strong advocate for 9/11 responders. We are delighted that he has agreed to share the story he tells in his new book, "Just Around The Bend - My Journey for 9/11" at this year's 13th Annual Information Forum on September 10th.

We wanted to share this important news with responders, survivors and volunteers who worked in the rescue and recovery efforts after the 9/11 attacks. Deadlines are approaching for registering for the Victim Compensation Fund and the New York State Worker's Compensation Board. Both registrations are easy to do and only take a few minutes to complete, but you must meet the deadlines in order to be eligible to receive benefits.

As the September 11th Anniversary is quickly approaching, we want to update you on several important items. At the top of the list, be sure to mark your calendars for the VOICES 13th Annual Day of Remembrance Information Forum to be held on September 10th from 8am to 5pm. The event will be held at the Marriott Hotel, located at 85 West Street, just adjacent to the 9/11 Memorial Museum in New York City.

Our collective thoughts are with the family members of the nearly 300 people lost on Malaysia Airlines Flight 17. This senseless act of violence is a global tragedy that affected families in many nations, including our own, and we take pause to pray for them during this time of great sorrow and loss.

As you may know, June 27 is designated as National PTSD Awareness Day, to inform the general public about post-traumatic stress disorder. Recognizing that many of our members are interested in learning more about PTSD, we are taking this opportunity to share information about the symptoms, but also the good news that treatment is available!

Father's Day is a time to thank the special men in our lives - our fathers, step-fathers, grandfathers, uncles, brothers and those individuals whose guidance and sacrifice have shaped us in so many ways. It's also a time to remember those who aren't with us today, but whose memory lives on through the stories we share.

On Tuesday, June 10th VOICES Center of Excellence for Community Resilience is hosting a half-day training on Motivational Interviewing. The training will be held from 1pm to 4pm at the VOICES office, located at 84 Albany Street, New Brunswick, NJ. Emma Shelby, Assistant Director of Wellness and Recovery Services at The Mental Health Association in New Jersey will provide the training.
