- The Michael Lynch Memorial Foundation is a scholarship program. Its' purpose is to provide grants to enable the children of firefighters, the children of other victims of the September 11 attacks, and the children of other fires and disasters to afford higher education. First responders are at increased risk for kidney damage and cancers as a result of their exposure to toxins during the recovery effort.
