New Canaan based Voices of September 11th held its 6th Annual Gala at Guastavino's in New York City on October 16th. The keynote speaker for the event was former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton. The Building Bridges Award was given to Police Commissioner Raymond W. Kelly. Other participants included singer/songwriter Mary Fahl, Joe Daniels and Alice Greenwald of the 9/11 Memorial & Museum, as well as the emcee for the event, veteran television personality, Joan Lunden.

NYC Police Commissioner Raymond W. Kelly will receive the Building Bridges Award at the Voices of September 11th (VOICES)  6th Annual Always Remember Gala on October 16, 2013. The award will be presented following the keynote address of Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.  At this year's event, VOICES will launch a broad initiative to help other families and communities impacted by other tragedies.
 

Voices of September 11th (VOICES) will host its 12th Annual Information Forum on September 10th at the Downtown Marriott Hotel.  The forum brings together members of the 9/11 community, including family members, responders and survivors, as well as government leaders, service providers, and subject matter experts. Programming will include informative presentations, panel discussions, roundtable conversations and 9/11 exhibits.

Highlights of the day's events will include the following.

Former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton will be the keynote speaker at the Voices of September 11th "Always Remember" Gala on October 16, 2013 at Guastavino's in New York City. Secretary Clinton has been a longstanding supporter of Voices of September 11th, beginning with the first meetings in her Senate office just days after the attacks.

Student interns from Voices of September 11th  traveled to the New York City offices of CBS News on August 6th  to learn firsthand about the challenge of reporting on the 9/11 attacks.

Voices of September 11th will hold its third speaker series event of the year at its New Brunswick office on Friday, March 8th from 2:00 - 4:00pm. In this workshop, lay Darma teacher Rebecca Li will discuss the principles and method of Chan meditation. Participants will learn how to establish their meditation practice and the correct posture, method and attitude needed to engage in the practice. They will also learn how to apply the practice on a daily basis, leading to a more fulfilling and joyful life. To get the most out of the workshop, participants should wear comfortable clothing.

Voices of September 11th will hold its second speaker series event at its New Brunswick office on Tuesday, February 19th. Nationally recognized nutrition and fitness expert, Erin Palinski, will speak on "Managing Stress to Improve Health & Wellness." She will teach breathing techniques, relaxation techniques, and dietary changes that can reduce stress and improve energy levels.

 

Kathie Lee Gifford, the co-host of the fourth hour of NBC's Today Show, will be the keynote speaker for the Voices of September 11th "Always Remember" gala on June 20, 2012 at Chelsea Piers in New York City. Kathie Lee Gifford and her husband, former New York Giants player Frank Gifford, were at their Greenwich home on Long Island Sound at the time of the attacks on September 11th. She later learned that her assistant and longtime friend lost her husband who worked at Cantor Fitzgerald.

WHAT: Voices of September 11th (VOICES) is hosting a press conference on Friday, September 9 at 1pm. Here, you will have the opportunity to speak and meet with family members, rescue workers, and survivors that the organization has not only inspired to endure following 9/11, but who have used their experience to make a positive impact on their own lives and in their communities.

Voices of September 11th (VOICES) is hosting two special "Day of Remembrance" events the weekend of 9/11, for family members, survivors and rescue workers.

New Canaan, CT. - (May 11. 2011) Hundreds of 9/11 survivors, friends and families of victims as well as corporate representatives will gather together for the fourth Annual Always Remember Gala on June 1, 2011. The event will be hosted by Voices of September 11th (VOICES), a prominent 9/11 organization providing support services and programs for all those impacted by the attacks on September 11, 2001.

Over the past several years Voices of September 11th staff has met with survivors, rescue and recovery workers to capture their inspirational stories for the 9/11 Living Memorial Project. They speak of their firsthand accounts of the attacks, witnessing people jumping to escape the burning buildings and watching helplessly as the building collapsed, wondering if their friends and colleagues were able to escape.

(March 13, 2009) – The Voices  of September 11th (VOICES) 9/11 Living Memorial digital archive project, which commemorates the lives of those who died and the stories of those who survived, is to receive a federal grant of $285,000. The hard work of Connecticut Senators Christopher Dodd (D-CT) and Joseph Lieberman (ID-CT) is credited with securing this much-needed financial support for the educational and historic initiative that will digitally archive the lives and stories of the attacks on September 11, 2001.
