A new film reveals and renews the tensions that went into creating the Sept. 11 museum beneath the memorial waterfalls and reflecting pool at the World Trade Center. Unhappy museum officials have objected and sought changes to “The Outsider,” a documentary being released this week that reveals conflicting visions behind the New York landmark, which opened in 2014. Documentaries often cast their subjects in a congratulatory light, but “The Outsider” portrays Michael Shulan, the first creative director of the 9/11 Memorial & Museum, as in effect the last honest historian of Sept. 11, 2001 — a man who wanted to pose “big questions,” per the voice-over, that America might not have been ready to ask. A special concert to remember the fallen 9/11 heroes is set for Saturday at the Northwell Health Theater at Jones Beach. The Tunnel to Towers Foundation's 'Never Forget Concert' boasts performances from The Chainsmokers, Journey and Flo Rida, just to name a few. Rebeca Castillo, 42, an El Salvador tourist visiting the United States for the first time, was curious to see with her own eyes a site of the atrocity that glued her to her TV 20 years ago. More.

The Wisconsin Rapids Fire Department is one of many in Wisconsin collecting gently used shoes to be used in a 9/11 Memorial. In all, they're looking to collect 351 pairs: one for all the firefighters and EMS personnel who died responding to the World Trade Centers on Sept. 11, 2001. More.
