On behalf all of us at VOICES, we send our best wishes to you and your family for a happy and healthy holiday. At this special time of year, we especially remember the families in Newtown, Connecticut and those impacted by Hurricane Sandy. We hold them close to our hearts and hope they find strength and solace from the outpouring of support from around the nation.

This weekend we had an opportunity to spend two days in Sandy Hook and offer our support. As you can imagine, the community is still in shock over the tragic loss of the young children and teachers who heroically protected their classrooms.

More than 11 years after 9/11, Voices of September 11th is still standing at the side of family members, survivors and rescue workers to help them find "a soft place to fall." Sometimes, it is as simple as offering an encouraging word during a teleconference support group.

During the Thanksgiving holiday, we think about family and friends whose support we are grateful for. Now, just a few weeks after Sandy, many families in the Northeast are thankful for things we typically take for granted - like electricity, warm showers and hot meals.

It has been more than two weeks since Super Storm Sandy swept through the East Coast, disrupting lives and destroying communities throughout the tri-state area. Those of us at VOICES have had similar experiences.
