On Wednesday, September 10th VOICES is hosting our 13th Annual Day of Remembrance Information Forum. The theme of this year's conference is "Promoting Resilience, Healing Families and Communities." The day-long conference will be held in New York City at the Downtown Marriott Hotel, located at 85 West Street on the corner of Albany Street.

I would like to introduce you to a dear friend, Gordon Haberman. We have gotten to know Gordon and his wife, Kathleen, over the years at our Annual Information Forum. Although many miles separate the Haberman family in Wisconsin and the Fetchet family in Connecticut, we have a strong bond.

As you may know, the 9/11 Museum is open on Wednesday, September 10th for the 9/11 Community. 9/11 families, 9/11 rescue and recovery workers, active-duty first responders, 9/11 survivors, and lower Manhattan residents and business owners are invited to visit the 9/11 Museum from 5:00pm to close.

For many years, George Martin, No. 75 of the New York Giants has been a strong advocate for 9/11 responders. We are delighted that he has agreed to share the story he tells in his new book, "Just Around The Bend - My Journey for 9/11" at this year's 13th Annual Information Forum on September 10th.

We wanted to share this important news with responders, survivors and volunteers who worked in the rescue and recovery efforts after the 9/11 attacks. Deadlines are approaching for registering for the Victim Compensation Fund and the New York State Worker's Compensation Board. Both registrations are easy to do and only take a few minutes to complete, but you must meet the deadlines in order to be eligible to receive benefits.

As the September 11th Anniversary is quickly approaching, we want to update you on several important items. At the top of the list, be sure to mark your calendars for the VOICES 13th Annual Day of Remembrance Information Forum to be held on September 10th from 8am to 5pm. The event will be held at the Marriott Hotel, located at 85 West Street, just adjacent to the 9/11 Memorial Museum in New York City.

Our collective thoughts are with the family members of the nearly 300 people lost on Malaysia Airlines Flight 17. This senseless act of violence is a global tragedy that affected families in many nations, including our own, and we take pause to pray for them during this time of great sorrow and loss.
