We have been asked by Karen Loftus of the Office of the Chief Prosecutor of Military Commissions to forward to you a series of emails about the upcoming trials in Guantanamo Bay. The first letter is to inform you that Bruce MacDonald, the Convening Authority for Military Commissions, has referred to a military commission charges against five detainees for their alleged involvements in the 9/11 attacks.

All of us at VOICES would like to take this opportunity to wish our friends and families from around the world a blessed Easter and Passover. At the interfaith service that we hosted two weeks ago in New York City, Rabbi Norman Patz quoted Psalm 71 in his message.

Cupcakes and daffodils - what a wonderful way to mark a special occasion! On Saturday, March 24th, VOICES invited members of the 9/11 community to come together for an interfaith service and a visit to the 9/11 Memorial. The gathering took place at the historic St. Peter's R.C. Church, just a short distance from the World Trade Center site. Father Kevin Madigan and Reverend Dale Lind led the participants in prayer and Rabbi Norman R. Patz wrote in his message that "we must be the instruments of God's justice and mercy."

All of us at VOICES are looking forward to visiting with you at this Saturday's Always Remember Interfaith Service at St. Peter's R.C. Church. It will be a beautiful day to visit this landmark church and the 9/11 Memorial. We visited with Father Madigan last week and we have prepared a two minute "trailer" for you to view so that you can get to know him as well – and see his historic parish church and the St. Peter's Memorial Cross.

What a beautiful day! As the daffodils in our gardens begin to bloom, it makes me think of the wonderful gift of The Daffodil Project - a joint endeavor between NY4P and the NYC Department of Parks and Recreation. The Daffodil Project was founded in response to the attacks of September 11th as a memorial, that would raise the spirits of New Yorkers and revitalize parks and communities throughout the five boroughs.

Saturday, February 12th marks the third anniversary of the death of our friend Beverly Eckert, who died in an airplane crash in Buffalo, New York. As many of you know, Beverly lost her husband Sean Rooney on 9/11 and co-founded VOICES. She was also a staunch advocate on a variety of 9/11 issues, especially government reforms to make the country safer.

In just a week's time we have had two individuals important to the 9/11 community pass away. I am writing today to share the very sad news that Bill Doyle's wife, Camille Doyle died on Wednesday. Camille was the mother of Joseph Doyle, who was lost on 9/11. Her husband, Bill, has dedicated his life to keeping members of the 9/11 community informed about issues that are important to them. She is also survived by her son, Billy, and daughter, Doreen, as well as her five loving granddaughters.
